The University of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, through its Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism Management, the Gran Canaria Island Council, through its Tourism Board, and the St. Bartolomé de Tirajana Town Council shall organise the:

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR THE TOURISM SECTOR

This conference will be held within the framework of the 11th INTERNATIONAL MASPALOMAS COSTA CANARIA TOURISM FORUM, and this year shall take place next 23th – 24th November 2023. It will count with the collaboration of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), l’Université Ibn Zohr – Agadir (Morocco), the Polytechnic Institute of Setubal (Portugal), the Tourism Intelligence Forum (t-Forum) – an institution with the aim of uniting theory and practice of Tourism through the transfer of knowledge-, the Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, and the Spanish Universities of Cádiz, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga, La Laguna, Pablo Olavide and Seville, through their respective Faculties of Economics, Business Administration and Tourism of Andalusia, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla (ADE2CA).

The aim of this Conference is to provide an international meeting for researchers, scholars, professionals and students, in order to discuss topics that are affecting the tourist sector. Furthermore, it shall also promote multidisciplinary cooperation relationships between scholars and the tourism industry.

Papers must focus on one of the following topics:

  • New scenarios in the Tourist Industry
  • Tourism Safety and Security
  • Air Connectivity
  • Competitiveness, Quality and Management of Destinations

  • Destination Marketing

  • Communication and Digitalisation in Tourism
  • Tourism and Workforce Training

  • Tourism Innovation and Entrepreneurship

  • Sustainable Development

All submitted papers must be original, without having been published or presented prior to this conference. Final deadline for full paper submission is 30th july 2023. These shall be sent in PDF format to: comunicacionforoturismo@gmail.com

PRESENTATION RULES

All communications must comply with the following basic rules:

  • Page Margins: top, bottom, left and right: 2.5 cm.

  • Extent: 4500-7000 words.

  • Languages: Spanish, English, French or Portuguese.

  • The front page shall include the following:

    • Communication Title: Capital Letters in bold, in TIMES NEW ROMAN, SIZE 12 POINTS, single-spaced.
    • Author/s: the following information must be provided for each:
      • Author’s Name: (in bold letters, Times New Roman, Size 10 pt, single-spaced).
      • Resume: 2-3 lines – Times New Roman letter, size 10, not in bold and single-spaced.); E-mail; Institution, University, Company, etc.; town, country.
    • Abstract: Analytical abstract of the communication, written in either Spanish and English, or Spanish and French, with a maximum extent of 160 words in each language. Only the title must be in bold whereas the rest of the text not. Times New Roman letter, size 10 and single-spaced.
    • Keywords: Three to five words, either in Spanish and English, or either in Spanish and French.
  • Titles of sections: Numbered in bold capital letters, size 11 and single-spaced.
  • Titles of subsections: Numbered in bold small letters, size 11, single-spaced and indented.

  • Document Corpus: single-spaced, justified text, Times New Roman letter, size 11.
  • References. For standardisation purposes, the American Psychological Association parameters for quoting and providing references (APA, 2010) have been chosen, since these provide an international standard for all kinds of scientific publications.

DO NOT INCLUDE ANY LOGOS IN YOUR DOCUMENT AND FOLLOW THE PRESENTATION RULES

ASSESSMENT

The results of such assessment may be the following: Accepted, Accepted with Form Revisions Needed, Accepted with Content Revisions Needed or Rejected. The accepted papers shall be checked against Turnitin software, in order to detect possible quoting mistakes and to prevent potential plagiarisms.

IMPORTANT DATES
  • 30th July 2023: Dateline for sending COMPLETE COMMUNICATIONS.
  • 22th September 2023: Delivery of corrected communications and delivery of forms authorising their publication. Providing the Organisation does not receive this form back, it shall be understood that the author/s does/do not wish to present or publish his/her/their communication.
  • 10th October 2023: Registration deadline, providing you wish to publish your communication.
  • 23th November 2023: celebration of the Conference.
  • 23th – 24th November 2023: 11th EDITION OF THE FORUM, GASTROFORUM AND CONFERENCE

REGISTRATION FEES
  • Participants with Communication: 80 €
  • Participants without Communication: Free Access (Registration is required)

The Organisation commits itself to include all selected communications in the book with the Minutes of the Conference, but shall not pay for travelling, transportation and any other attendance expenses of speakers of this Conference. Only works by participants that have been registered as “Participant with Communication” shall be published.

Selected communications shall have a presentation time of 10 minutes.

Participants with a communication in the Conference shall register themselves as “Participant with Communication”. Providing one same communication has several authors, only the person/people registered as “Participant with Communication” shall receive the pertinent certificate and copy of its publication”.
