Miguel Ángel Rodríguez Martínez

Director General for Organisation, Training and Tourism Promotion of the Canary Islands Government

Miguel Ángel Rodríguez has recently been appointed Director General of Tourism Planning, Training and Promotion. He holds a PhD in Territorial Planning, Natural Resources and Land from the University of La Laguna, cum laude. He also holds a degree in Law from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a diploma from the School of Legal Practice at the same university. He also holds master’s degrees in Urban Planning from the School of Architecture of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and in Development of Tourist Destinations from the UNED.

He is a town planning technician from the National Institute of Public Administration and a university expert in Environmental Law from the UNED.

Diploma of Advanced Studies and Research Sufficiency in the Land Management, Natural Resources and Soil programme of the ULL. He is a qualified state official in the local administration, sub-branch of the Secretary’s Office, senior category. In his professional career he has been general secretary in several town councils and in the Cabildo of Fuerteventura. Director and drafter of the Insular Plan of Territorial Planning of Fuerteventura and director of the Hydrological Plan of this island.

He has been a lecturer on the Master’s Degree in Urban Planning Law at the University of La Laguna and a lecturer at the Canary Islands Institute of Public Administration and the Canary Islands Security Academy, FECAM, Gesplan, among other positions.

He was also secretary of the board of directors and the general meeting of the Parque Tecnológico de Fuerteventura. He is also a founding member of the Asociación Canaria de Derecho Urbanístico.
